DMV
So one of my friends...the one with all his theories, got a notice from DMV. He apparently did not get his renewal notice for his car registration (his registration is 2 1/2 months late!) and now DMV is charging him $111 for a penalty. He's telling everyone it's not his fault cause he never got the first notice in the mail (or he could have thrown it away without noticing). How is it not his fault? He's had a car for 5-6 years in the Bay Area...and every year, the registration is renewed at the same time. Not to mention the sticker on your license plate that tells you the month that your registration is due...wouldn't you also think...it would be the same month that you originally bought your car? You would think, wouldn't you?
So now he's debating on lining up at the DMV to fight this penalty...is time not worth more than the $111 penalty? And even after going, it's not guaranteed that he would get the penalty reversed. Well, I guess when people have time on their hands, they'll do anything...but I'm sure he won't go...he values his time a little more than this.

I think he needs to get his $111 back, to cover the cost of that time he spent figuring out how to justify that it wasn't his fault.
A classic case of the "it's not my fault and I don't care, it just isn't, and I'm not listening to you, nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah" responsibility aversion.
I think the time spent figuring out it wasn't his fault could have been spent AT the DMV.
1. it's totally his fault
2. he totally will not go to DMV, way too lazy
Dude, that his totally his fault!
And.. Dude, you have such a good point.. he has to get it renewed each year?!?! No excuses!
He just sounds irresponsible and won't own up to his faults
