Co-workers

So I've been on this project for almost 8 weeks now and I have 2 and a bit more to go. The people I'm working with are crazy. The guy isn't that bad but when you get the guy and the girl together...it's hard. He's annoyed at her and she's just ignorant. She's very self centered and doesn't really care what others want. Tonight we went to dinner and she wanted seafood. The guy doesn't eat any seafood at all. There is limited non-seafood items on the menu, so we walk to another restaurant to check out the menu...nope she didn't want to eat there. The guy gets fed up and says that he'll go to the bar while we go to the seafood restaurant. Why can't we just all get along? Why do they have to make it so difficult? Only one more week.

It's hard to not get frustrated with the girl with her being so selfish and not knowing much. I think the reason why she wants to eat seafood so much is that she never gets to eat it normally. And now that work is paying for it, it's a treat for her. She had told me that she fed her, her kid and her husband on $200/month...and that included going out to eat on the weekends too. I can't even imagine spending just $200/month on just me for food. You can tell she doesn't eat out much and doesn't know much about food as she'd make comments like, she doesn't know the differences between different cuts of steak and how they are to be cooked. She's never had lobster served with the whole lobster before. When the waiter brought it to her table in Portland, she was shocked that it was not cut up and the shell was still on it. When we were at another restaurant, they mentioned that the shrimp was crusted with Ritz...and she didn't know what that was. The guy couldn't believe all the comments...and neither can I.

Oh well...it's entertainment at least right?

Albuquerque, NM

I'm finally off the project!!! But I forgot to write about my last location. Albuquerque, NM. It was actually nicer than I thought I would be. I was expecting some small town with nothing to do or eat, but it actually had decent food and was a lot more energetic than St. Louis. And I found my favorite BBQ place that I had eaten in in Austin...mmm.

So the last week on the client and one of my team members decided to confront the other saying that she didn't like his double standards. She didn't do this in front of me but of course he told me about it afterwards. She kept saying that he'd treat her much differently than he treated me. That he made a big fuss about her staying at another hotel (cause she wanted free breakfast) while it wasn't a big deal when I stayed at another hotel (because of my dog). Oh well...it was fun drama to watch I guess...but the tension in the room was crazy. Thank god it's over!

Well so I'm back in NYC now after coming back from ABQ and a small trip to YVR to drop Dim Sum off with my family since I'll be travelling for the rest of the year. I'm hoping I find out my travel schedule tomorrow when I start my new client. There's potential for international travel and I'm crossing my fingers for it. I just hope my team is better than the last.

Friends from London

This weekend was very tiring. I had a friend from London come visit me with her new boyfriend. I flew back on Friday night but of course my flight was delayed...the one day I want it to be on time and it's late. Finally got back to NYC at 7:45 and home and getting ready at 8:30. At this time, I thought they might have eaten already since they said they were meeting up at 7:30 for dinner. I call to figure out if I should eat at home or not...at this time I'm starving cause all I ate all day was 3 bites of a pizza. Good news! They aren't eating till 9pm. Great...gives me time to get ready and go meet them for dinner. Hmm...they've been having pre-dinner drinks...I guess I got to catch up. So, I down some wine and head off to meet them. Get to the restaurant, dinner was good..but not sure if it was the food or that I was just so hungry. After dinner we head over to a bar and hang out there till like 1:30. Hungry again! How could that be. Oh well...get home and eat some instant noodles.

Wake up at 8am from a phone call from my friend. "Boy what are you guys doing up so early? You guys were falling asleep at the bar last night." They're going shopping...I look up some info for them on the internet and then I figured I should get up and do some errands myself. Get out and realize that it's raining a little and I didn't bring my umbrella. Hmmm...oh well, I should just go anyways. Walked 6 blocks and am soaked. Didn't realize it would rain so much. Better get home to clean up. Geez the shower was nice! Then cleaning the apartment and time for a nap. Don't know where the day went cause for some reason it was time to leave to meet my friends for dinner. We go to a japanese restaurant in the west 50s. Not bad and reasonably priced. Then we rush to watch "Light in the Piazza". It was good...wasn't so sure about it but it won a bunch of Tony awards so we figured we check it out. How funny! My friend and her boyfriend fall asleep for practically the whole show. Guess they are still on London time. We get out and they figured they'd go back and sleep. Me and my other friends decide to go and meet some other people at a bar. And boy is it pissing rain outside. It took forever to get a cab and it was coming down so hard. Think that's where I got sick. Cough...cough.

Asian party! Not sure why I always end up at these places no matter what city I'm in but I do. Really need to diversify. Anyways, of course since I'm the only girl...I'm the wing girl. I think we met like 6-8 girls for the 3 boys. They didn't get any numbers though. We get out of there and decide to go to Korean town for some pizza. Late night eating is always so good. I get home and look at the clock...4am. I don't know where time flies.

Sunday was really brutal for me. Tried to get up early but woke up at 9am then 11am then 1pm. Ok that's good...gotta get my lazy ass up so that I can do a few things before leaving. My friend from London comes down to check out my apartment and pick up her poker chips that she bought on the internet and shipped to my place. Boy were they heavy...20lbs. Hmm...kinda hungry. More instant noodles...I need to find stuff to eat. Oh no...it's already 4pm. The car was coming at 4:30. Let's pack some stuff and get going.

The traffic to JFK was crazy...I've been flying out of LaGuardia lately and it's great...but didn't realize how long it would take me to get to JFK....I run inside at 5:15 for my 6pm flight. The lady manning the line is mean...how rude! Finally I get to the counter, get my boarding pass and get to my gate...DELAYED!!!! Damn it. Ok...I have some time to find something to eat...a hot dog...boy that was a good hot dog. Still hungry...crap! I'll eat at the hotel. Finally in St. Louis...cab ride it long and settled in the hotel. Get my room service and watch Grey's Anatomy. That's a good show. Missed Desparate Housewives.

This was a very long weekend...now I can rest during the week...especially since I've got a cough now.

St. Louis

So I got to St. Louis...boy is it hot! It's in the high 80s here...what a difference from Concord. So the airport is crazy and of course everyone is stopping to play with Dim Sum. She's such a cutie. She was really good on the plane today too...barely even barked. So I got to the hotel and it's nice. The TV is a little small but the room is nice...I like it. I guess I'll have to figure out what to do around St. Louis now.
