Dating
How would someone define dating? I think everyone defines it differently. I was out with my friends this weekend and talking about dating. I, myself, don't think I've really dated in my life...now that I'm thinking of it, I guess I mean more casual dating? Moving to NYC, everyone is always out on dates and with different people. I've always had a boyfriend or was single...never really thought of a dating stage except with maybe just a few guys in my life. Now one of my other friends is saying that her definition of dating is going out with someone of the opposite sex and getting to know them is a date...but what if there is no intention there for it to go further and you are just hanging out as friends? Is that not just hanging out with friends...especially when you make it known that it's purely just a friendship. I feel that it is just friends. So when you meet new people and you hang out with them one on one, is that considered dating? Wouldn't that just be hanging out with your friend and getting to know them as your friend because you just met? As long as there is no romantic intention, I don't think that's dating...
Feeling Bad
So over the weekend we were out and I accidentally pushed my friend while he was drunk and he slipped off his seat and hit his head on stereo equipment! Not a good move...a little funny...but not a good move.
Spaced Out
So I was out with my friends yesterday watching college basketball...it was my first time ever. Anyways, I had called my other friend that was at work to come and join us for drinks and then dinner...he said he'd be done by 6pm so that he could meet us after. He later tells me that he's working till 8pm so we decide to go to dinner without him. I then come into work today and find out that they worked till past 10pm and that there was a funny story. This guy from work was sitting there in a room of 5 people and they were working...he wasn't so busy but they were all there together. They were then constantly talking about lunch after 12 cause they were all starving but wanted to finish a few items first. They finally get a break at 3:30 and decide to go to lunch...so this guy stands up and asks, "should we lock our computers?" They were all like, "no, we'll be right back". They then, head down the building and they turn left while he turns right...this one other guy finally catches on and is like, "where is he?" and turns around...he see him smiling and waving saying "see you tomorrow!". They are all shocked and not really registering what's going on until it's too late. They just couldn't believe it. So this morning when asking the guy about it...he was like, "I thought we were all going home." Boy he must have been so spaced out that he never listened to them talk about lunch for 3 1/2 hours and he didn't notice them leaving their luggages and all in the room...he's the laughing act right now at work.Anyways, the point of the story is that, my friend couldn't meet us for dinner cause he had to fill in for this guy and do the work! Sucks!
Ping
I learnt a new term today. Today, I was bored out of my mind and was iming with my friend. We're having this discussion about vacation and she states that she has to ping the lawyer about it. I'm sitting there going..."what the hell is ping?" She goes on to explain to me that it's used all over her office and it means to email, call, etc. That's a new one...at least to me. I ask around the people I'm working with and they only know of a computer term and don't think it's related to the one she is using...so strange how it's something used by her company and seems to be a common term to them yet I've never heard of it.
Another Monday
So another monday has passed. It was such a boring day. The work has still been slow and we're just waiting around for information. We've been told that the work was to come in Monday night and that we had to complete everything by Wednesday...needless to say...not much work came in last night and now we're still sitting around waiting. It just makes the day go by so slow when you're waiting. To top it off, I had a meeting at 4:30 and had to leave work at 4 yesterday but the rest of my team stayed till 8:30. I'm not sure what they were doing, but I feel bad since they were here so late.Looks like another full day of waiting around for work for me! Fun stuff. Why can't it ever be a balance in my work rather than either really busy or really slow. Going to need to rethink my career.
Beautiful Weekend
It was such a nice weekend in NYC. The weather was awesome. It was in the 70s. I got to spend Saturday walking around the city with Dim Sum and enjoying the weather. Sunday wasn't as nice though cause it got all cloudy and drizzly, but the temperature was still nice. Didn't do much this weekend. Friday night I stayed in and rested...it was so nice! My friend was out drinking on Friday night and met up with one of our other friends in the lower east side. It was kinda weird cause my friend had called me earlier that night and told me to meet up with her too in the lower east side...she failed to mention that she would be on a date though. Anyways, my other friend that did meet up with them didn't realize that she was on a date either until he showed up at the bar and realized that there were no other people there that we knew. Why would you invite your friends along with you on a date? Haha...she hasn't heard the end of it from us. Anyways, our friend played third wheel for like half an hour and then he went home...so funny! On Saturday, we went to our friend's coworker's bday party. It was ok...something different but there were like 30 girls and 2 guys there. So rather than mingle with the bday party (which was at the back of the bar and boiling hot), I went to sit around the bar and just chat with the people I already knew. It was actually not a bad night. I had fun just hanging out and chatting with them. Sunday was my day of rest and chores. I got up to go to dim sum but wanted to cancel cause of the drizzle...but I managed to force myself out of the apartment. Then got home and got to do laundry and clean a bit. It was a nice nite...then got to watch Desparate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy...gotta love Grey's Anatomy...it's so funny!
Bored at work
So the last few days have been really boring at work. We're basically at the client's waiting for information to come in from their many locations but of course, it hasn't. So basically, we sit around all day just waiting. Real good use of money for the client huh? Anyways, I feel really bad just sitting around doing nothing and now I'm bored out of my mind. I don't like to have too much work but some work to occupy my day would be nice.Anyways, today I walk into work and one of my coworkers is already here. He starts talking to me saying, the hub for the internet doesn't work. He's getting all worried and wants to call IT. I'm like, wait. Why don't we just play around with it. I'm sure it'll work...or maybe it's the internet line that's down. So I check the internet line...it's fine. Then I start playing around with the hub and he's like...let's call IT...God! Do people not know how to chill and figure things out for themselves! Anyways, I'm looking at the hub and realize that he's hooked it up incorrectly...what an idiot! So I unplug all the cords and replug them in and of course it works! Loser! He then goes on to say, it's still not working as he just replugs it into his computer...does he not know to wait a minute or two for it to register. I hate it when people are so stupid and can't do anything on their own and then asks for help when it's a simple solution. My day has got to get better than this!
Weekend in NYC
I'm finally back in NYC and I feel like a need a weekend to rest. It's cold out and I've just been really tired. Anyways, we go to happy hour on Friday, leave and go to a Benefit and then to 2 bars. Not a bad night, still get home by 2am and can't believe we did so much...was so tired though. On Saturday, I went to the japanese market in New Jersey and then home to rest. Wanted to stay in on Saturday night but my friend had some friends from out of town. Finally dragged myself out of bed at 10:30pm and went to meet up with them...so this is where the story begins...I get to this bar in east village and there is a line. The guys are already inside (4 of them) and the doors are glass so I can see them inside and wave. So of course I have to line up and I don't mind so much cause my other friend is not there yet so we'd have to wait for her anyways. Anyways, one of the guys come out and try to get me in (there are only like 12 people in front of me)...the bouncer says no. Then 10 minutes pass and another guy comes out and tries to get me in...nope same thing...he then decides to come outside and stand and wait with me...really nice of him. Anyways, half an hour passes and we are at the front of the line finally. We're still waiting for my friend to show up and call her...she's a few minutes away. I tell the bouncer that we have to wait a few minutes before he even tries to let us in...and he just laughs and says, she'd be cutting the line. I then go on to say that the guy was already inside so in fact he's just standing in line for her. And he smiles...in the mean time, my other friend comes outside with his coat in hand. What's going on? Was he leaving? Anyways, he goes on to tell us that he was kicked out of the bar. What??? The hell does he get kicked out of the bar...so this is what happened. He was standing there and the waitress was walking by with drinks and drops one on his leg...he's thinking...not a big deal, it's an accident. Anyways, she walks by again and drops another drink on him...haha. He's like, excuse me, can I get some napkins, you drops some drinks on me. She says she'll go and get some...so she walks by again...no napkins. And he asks her again and she goes on to say, go get it yourself. There's the bar. Now my friend gets mad and starts arguing with her...the owner comes by and tells him to calm down and he's trying to explain his story but the owner doesn't want to hear it. Then he goes on to say, one more word and you're out. And of course, he gets thrown out! Haha...right when we get to the front of the line...what great timing!Haha...anyways, we go to another bar and hang out there and get home at 5am...so tired on Sunday but managed to wake up at 10:30 to go for Shanghai soup dumplings. I go home and rest a little more and head over to Morimoto's new restaurant for our 8:45 reservations...of course we don't get seated till 9:30, but they did give us free appetizers cause of the wait. I must say, wasn't really impressed with the food. The sashimi was good but the rest was overpriced, cooked food. I remember thinking that in Philly too but figured, it might be different here. Oh well...now we know. We then head over to a bar till 1am and head home to start our work week...wow what a long weekend!
