Coincidences
I have been sitting around bored out of my mind at my clients and realized that I never blogged about my week of weird coincidences around my birthday. It all started less than a week before my birthday.
1) My aunt was in town with my cousins. We had gone to dinner and stopped by one of her cousin's place for dessert. While there, they were told about this Canada Day party the Canadian Consolite has and that they should go...weird thing, I was going to that. That was the least weird thing that happened.
2) That night, I went to meet my friends for drinks cause it was someone's birthday party. I had another friend in town and told him to call me if he wanted to meet up for drinks. Anyways, part way through the night he texts me saying he just got back from the outlets and is heading out for drinks. I tell him I'm in lower east side and he ends up texting back later to say that he's there too. In the end, we ask what bar, and we just happened to be in the same bar. We both have never been to this bar before and knew nothing about it.
3) The next day, I'm out with my friends and I get a phone call from this guy I work with. I call him back because he says there's something he has to tell me. Anyways, he tells me that he wants me to talk to his new friend. He puts this girl on the phone and it's my friend's sister that just moved to NYC a little over a month ago. How strange! When asked, I was informed that she now works for his old company and they were out watch the World Cup with people from that company and the topic of where they were from came up and he had mentioned that he knew someone from work from Vancouver too. They put two and two together and realized it was me.
4) That same day, on my way to the Canada Day party, I hop on the subway and one stop before I have to get off, the guy that I had subletted my apartment to got on the train. I had not seen him in over a year.
5) The last thing that week was, the same guy from work had texted me during the week and asked if I knew this girl and I was so shocked. How would he have known her? Anyways, he does cold calling for work, and cold called this girl (which I only know a few people in nyc still) and they got to talking and realized that she used to work with me in the Bay Area. I told him that I no longer talk to her but know that she is in nyc.
I don't know what was up with that week but it was crazy...so many things happened with no reason. Things are back to normal now but I still remember that week and thinking it was strange.
